Welcome
to Jacobson Park
This
29 acre park was a developer donation
to
the Village of Wonder Lake in the 1970's. Five acres have been
developed for softball, soccer, tennis, basketball and in-line hockey. Development
and maintenance costs come from tax dollars, state grants, developer
donations and most importantly, through volunteer efforts. The
basketball and hockey courts have been completed with area residents
enjoying the new addition.
The remaining 24 acres of the park is a wetland and is a protected area
as part of the Illinois "Acres for Wildlife" program. All
water frontages are private with ownership belonging to either Sunrise
Ridge Estates or the Master Property Owners Association. Access
to these areas is reserved for Wonder Lake property owners with patrol
by the village police and the MPOA's Marine Police Patrol.
Village
Green
The
Village Green is another village park in the Deerpath Subdivision. Swings,
sandboxes, picnic tables, a hand pump and well and a jungle gym provide activities. Come
enjoy the outstanding view of the Nippersink Valley as the creek meanders
to form Wonder Lake. Walkers are particularly delighted at this shaded
rest area.
Huff
Park
Huff
Farm Park was dedicated in October 2003. The park honors Earl
Huff who ran a dairy farm for 40 years in what is known as Deerpath Subdivision.
This park sports a softball backstop, volleyball court and playground equipment.
Heger's
Triangle Park
This is a small park in the Sunrise Ridge Subdivision. It has playground
equipment and a volleyball court available for all village residents. A heavily
wooded lot adjacent to this area has been purchased and is currently under
development to expand this park.
Woods
Creek Park
The Woods Creek subdivision has a 20 acre village park. The park is underdevelopment
at the current time, but playground equipment and two backstops have been
installed. A parking lot at the park site doubles as a basketball court.
Volleyball standards will be put in during the fall of 2005. Soccer goals
will be installed in the summer of 2006 when grass is fully established.
At the present time this park area is unnamed.
The
Meadows of West Bay
This new development has some 180 acres of park land that will be developed
as the subdivision is built. Look for combination baseball and soccer fields,
dual purpose parking and basketball courts, tot lots, hiking and biking paths
in coming years. In addition, large expanses of protected wetlands, oak woods
and prairies will enhance the area.
A private association park will serve as both a beach and access point to
Wonder Lake for Meadows of West Bay residents.
Association
Parks
Many of the subdivisions that make up the village have their own private
parts. These parks are NOT public and are owned and maintained by the subdivision
associations. Only member of these associations may use the parks. By association
request the Village of Wonder Lake Police Department patrols these private
parks.
Organized
Sports
Jacobsen Park Sports Organization has two organized sports:
Soccer is played in both Spring and Fall Seasons. For ages 5 to 14. Younger
ages play “in house” while older players play as a team in the
Fox Valley Recreational League.
Girls softball offers both in house and league play for ages 7 through 15.
