Sunrise Ridge Creek Park

This popular park is along the Nippersink Creek. Historically significant, just across the creek once stood Boone's Mill in the late 1830's. This mill ground grain for area farmers and was also used as a sawmill to create lumber from the abundant trees in the area. The mill also had the first store in the Wonder Lake Greenwood area. An interpretive sign pictures and explains the mill operation. Aerial views still show a millstream along the North and East edge of the ball fields at Jacobson Park. This millstream provided a consistent flow of water from the Nippersink to power the mill. The millstream was hand dug!

The park has great swings, a popular heavy equipment tire, a basketball court and benches along the Nippersink. Large Cottonwood trees with a span of 20 foot in diameter dot the area. Park is open to Sunrise Ridge Property Owners and is patrolled by Wonder Lake Police.
