As of February 21, 2024, Hancock Road is now officially annexed to the Village of Wonder Lake! This significant project has undergone various iterations and has been led by different individuals over the years, with its origins dating back to 1960. If you have any information about earlier attempts, please feel free to share it with us. A map detailing the exact annexation territory is attached at the bottom of this page.
Now that Hancock is part of the Wonder Lake community, our top priority is to establish water and sewer services. This move aims to revitalize the once-thriving business district, enabling it to host employees and customers once again. The County Health Department had previously deemed many of the septic systems insufficient to handle the full customer load, severely limiting the growth potential for businesses in the area. Consequently, several businesses have remained dormant for years.
The timeline for implementing water and sewer services is currently scoped to begin on or around July 2025, ending approximately 1 year later.
To keep Village Residents informed, we will maintain a blog-style page where we’ll share new details and updates as they become available.
