Many entities are offering support for their customers.

  • Banking:  Call your bank if you need help with online banking, or want to check on financial assistance they may be able to provide.
  • Commonwealth Edison: Payment options and financial assistance may be available; click here for a link to the > ComEd press release
  • Internet Providers:  Some are lifting data caps because of increased usage with children at home, and may have programs available for free/reduced cost internet services; contact your provider for information.
  • Animal Shelters - this is a rough time for them - animals keep coming in the door, but they can't adopt pets the way they usually do with people coming into the shelter.  Many are greatly in need of new foster homes to temporarily take care of a cat, kitten or dog until things go back to normal. If you're interested in giving a pet a temporary home, contact one of your local shelters and ask them how you can become a foster home.  If you've been thinking about adopting a pet - this is a great time; the children are home to get acquainted with a new cat or dog, and learn how to take care of them.  Contact your local shelter for information - the shelter buildings may be closed, but many wonderful shelters in McHenry County are doing adoptions.
