Location: Village of Wonder Lake
Hourly Rate: $17.00 per hour
Job Description: The Village of Wonder Lake is seeking seasonal summer help for the Water & Sewer Department. This position will perform a variety of maintenance work for the municipal water system throughout the Village. Work will mainly be performed outdoors.
The term of employment is 12–14 weeks, from approximately mid-May to mid-August. Start/Stop dates are flexible depending on school schedule. Please indicate your beginning and end dates of availability in the application.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with routine maintenance of water and sewer infrastructure
· Support hydrant flushing, valve exercising, and system inspections
· Aid in meter reading and data collection as needed
· Assist with equipment cleaning, organization, and minor repairs
· Follow all safety protocols and departmental procedures
· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff
· Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance
· Adhere strictly to safety standards and use of provided personal protective equipment (PPE)
· Show initiative and willingness to learn department operations
· Represent the Village in a positive and responsible manner
Qualifications:
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
· Have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record & pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
· Communicate in a respectful and courteous manner with co-workers, supervisors, and public.
· Provide excellent customer service to the residents of the Village.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand and talk or listen; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and kneel, crouch, crawl, and bend.
· Regularly handle, lift, and move materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
· Perform the duties of this job in outside weather conditions including rain, snow, smoke, noise, odors, toxic agents, extreme heat and cold, wind, bright sun and other elements of nature.
Schedule:
• Work hours are Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM (40 hours per week) at a beginning rate of $17.00 per hour.
There may be occasional work outside normal hours in an emergency.
